Looking for a job that fits around school, college or university?

At Farmfoods, we have various part time roles available so you will find one that suits you. We offer an hourly rate of £9.40 to £12.00 depending on age and length of service and we offer contracts from 12 to 39 hours per week to suit your circumstances.

We can offer shifts in the mornings, day time and evenings. We do not do zero hour contracts and you will always be guaranteed a minimum amount of hours. Everybody gets 6 weeks paid holiday per year and overtime at normal rates is often available if you want it.

Uniform (jacket, t-shirt and trousers) is provided free of charge and you get a staff discount of 15% on all purchases from your first day with us.

This isn’t just a job on the checkouts. From serving customers at the till to keeping the shelves and freezers full, as a member of our team you’ll do a bit of everything. All great experience and plenty to add to your CV. We work in a competitive, fast paced environment and you will need to get stuck in and give it your all. We do things pretty quickly and there’s always something to be done. You won’t find a job with us boring.

We also believe it is important to enjoy coming to work. With a friendly team around you, don’t be surprised if you end up staying a while. Our average Retail Assistant stays for 3 years and because we always look to promote from within, once they are bitten by the bug, many stay much longer.

Farmfoods is a sixty five year old family business. When you join us you will become a part of achieving our mission to deliver the simplest, best value, friendliest shops in town… different to anywhere else and much better.

At every level in Farmfoods you are trusted and expected to take responsibility for yourself, your work and your colleagues. This is important because in everything we do we remember that it is our customers who pay our wages, and our shop teams who serve them. There are three stages to our recruitment process for retail positions, each of which is designed to let you show off your best and to help us find the best people for our team:

Application Form

Submit your online application before the deadline. You will be asked some short questions to make sure that Farmfoods is right for you and that you are right for us.

Arrange Interview by Phone

If successful you will be contacted to arrange a face to face interview.

Attend Interview

The face to face interview will help us to get to know you a bit better as well as you getting to know us.

Our focus has to be on making sure we have the right number of people in our shops at the right times, however our managers will always try to be flexible and accommodate any requests when they can.
You must be at least 16 years old.
You will complete our award winning retail training programme and you’ll have plenty of support from your colleagues and manager.
Other than the the unrestricted right to work in the UK, there are no qualification requirements to apply for one of our roles in retail as we recruit based on personality. Check out the 'About you' section above to find out more.
There are lots of career opportunities within Farmfoods; we like to develop our people. We encourage internal promotion and always look to promote to Shop and Area Manager positions from within. We also offer level 2, level 3 and level 4 retail apprenticeships that can allow you to progress within our shops.
Stage One – Application Form
The online application form consists of a number of short questions which enable us to get to know a bit more about you and also to help you decide if we are the right company for you. The hiring manager will review your application form and decide if they would like to progress your application further.

Stage Two – Face to Face Interview
If the hiring manager likes what they see in your application, they will give you a call to arrange a face to face interview with you, which will be held in one of our shops (usually the one you’ve applied to work in).

Stage Three - Job Offer
After the interview the hiring manager will be in touch within 7 days to let you know the outcome. This may be via email if you are unsuccessful or by telephone if you are successful.
After making your application you should expect to hear from us within 4 weeks but in most cases you will hear much sooner than that (usually within 2 – 3 weeks).
Due to the large number of applications we receive we are unable to provide any specific feedback if your application is unsuccessful.
Absolutely, you are more than welcome to apply again.
